My view on the Ryder Cup

First off, congratulations to the US for the win. I was beginning to think the day would never come ;-)

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, the Ryder Cup is one of the largest sporting events in the world. It’s a golf tournament between the US and Europe. This year the US won the tournament, but out of the previous 6 tournaments, Europe have won 5, dominating the last two.

Now, here are a few things I would like to get off my chest. I’m still pissed off about the fact that we lost, so this might be kind of a rant.

What’s up with the US audience? I know this years cup took place in the middle of nowhere, but come on! Only in the US will the audience applaud and cheer when a member of the opposing team misses a putt or shoots a ball in the water. Not everyone behaved like idiots, but the ones who did were obnoxious enough to make up for all of them. This has to stop. It’s golf, not Nascar.

I believe NBC were responsible for the TV coverage of the event. Regardless of who was behind it, it was bad. During the singles, the amount of footage of European players’ tee shots and second shots was minimal to say the least. 75% of the footage was of US players putting.

It would appear that leaving the worlds most boring human at home was a good idea. I am of course talking about Tiger Woods. The second most boring human, Jim Furyk, was there though.

Finally, and this applies to the European team as well as the US team. Find out who designs your clothes, and kill him/her.
